The first of nine came in today, this is what I think.
The first drop of nine straight months of downloadable content (DLC) has finally arrived in the form of two new multiplayer maps. If you are a Call of Duty Elite premium member, multiplayer maps Piazza and Liberation were both available online today.
First up is Liberation. It is a beautiful map that is embodied by the shadow of the infamous New York City skyline. Its features reminded me of a brisk mid afternoon walk during autumn. Leaves are everywhere on the ground and the trees are stunning showing off their brown and red foliage. Unfortunately, there are open alleyways and bridges readily available to house the vilest of Call of Duty player, the camper. After a few games, I was able to work my way around the snipers and I also managed to get a grenade kill, which was nice. This map is basically a sniper’s paradise. With the abundance of trees and brush, snipers will have a safe haven against those who seek them out. Rushers and strategic players will have to maneuver around cover and concealment to hide your route of travel. But for the most part, I enjoyed this map and I look forward to getting more time down rage hunting for campers.
Set on the edge of Italy’s breath taking coastline, Piazza’s quick corners and abundance of stairs, similar to Seatown, puts you in a fast paced enviroment for people to run around and shoot each other in the face. Unfortunately, however, it turned into a slugfest of Strikers vs non-Strikers as these sub par players did most of the face shooting. After getting lit up a few times, I started hip firing and then actually looking down the sites to get an edge on the shot gunners. The best way to combat these guys was a preemptive strike by shooting and throwing flash, concussion, and frag grenades. Once you had them stunned, you can take them out quickly. Piazza has potential to be a fast paced, run and gun style of map that will get my vote in any lobby. Besides Dome, I can see Piazza becoming one of my favorite maps thus far in the game.
The map packs are new and require a bit of learning, obviously, but after a few matches you should be good to go. Depending on your style will depend on which map you favor, but as a rusher I would prefer the urban sprawl of Piazza over the wooded area and openness of Liberation any day. Feel free to post your thoughts about the new map packs in the comment section and check out my game play below.
